The information given here is taken from the RSPB "What's On" guide
for Titchwell Marsh and Snettisham reserves.

Is the walk for me?

You don't need to be an expert to join one of the RSPB walks - whatever your level of ability or interest in birds, you will be made to feel welcome. The Snettisham events involve up to a three-mile walk, the first three quarters of a mile of which are done at a brisk pace, often in the dull light of dawn when a torch may be useful. Walks at Snettisham and Titchwell will last between two and three hours.

Children

Children are welcome on all of these events, but they must have an adult with them. We regret that we are unable to accept unaccompanied children on any of these events.

What might you see?

Part of the fun of these events is that every walk is different. Sometimes the birds are easy to see and sometimes they hide. The information given for each walk is therefore meant as a guide to what you might see.

Cancelled events

Very occasionally, an event may be cancelled due to circumstances that will prevent it running. It is essential to leave a contact telephone number (preferably a mobile) at the time of booking in case the event has to be cancelled at short notice.

Bookings and enquiries

These events are very popular and places are limited, so booking is essential. Please call the RSPB with any questions, or to make a booking, on 01485 210779. Unless otherwise stated, all events cost £6.00 for adults and £2.50 for children. There is a £1.00 discount on guided walks for RSPB and RSPB Wildlife Explorer members.

RSPB Leaders

All RSPB leaders are skilled birdwatchers with many years of experience behind them; their aim is to make sure you enjoy yourself.

Where and when to meet

Unless otherwise stated, all events are at RSPB Titchwell Marsh or Snettisham nature reserves and start promptly at the advertised times. All Titchwell Marsh events start at the visitor centre. Snettisham events start in the RSPB car park, which is signposted off Beach Road, and from the A149.

Disabled access

Visitors with disabilities are welcome at both reserves. All paths and hides at Titchwell are suitable for wheelchairs. If you would like to discuss access arrangements call 01485 210779 for Titchwell Marsh or 01485 542689 for Snettisham.

The weather, what to wear and your safety

The Wash, and north Norfolk coast are wild places, and the weather can be unpredicatable. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, taking into account temperature, sun, wind and rain. We recommend you wear stout footwear because the reserve paths may have areas with slippery or uneven surfaces. Please keep to the signposted paths and away from the deep water lagoons, inter-tidal mudflats and saltmarshes.

Transport and tourist information

Think green. Have you ever considered visiting Titchwell Marsh by bus or bike, or perhaps car sharing with some friends?

Titchwell Marsh has it's own bus stop: call Traveline East Anglia on 0871 200 2233 for details of the coasthopper bus service and other public transport enquiries. The nearest bus stop to the Snettisham reserve is Snettisham village, about 2.2 miles from the RSPB car park.

There are cycle racks outside the Titchwell Marsh visitor centre and in the car park at Snettisham.

Car parking is free at Snettisham and costs £4.00 at Titchwell Marsh. RSPB members park for free.
